XMEN - First Class June 3, 2011

Our first look at First Class
Lo and behold our first glimpse of the photo banner of new X-Men movie: X-men First Class. The story tells a tale of a young Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr before they took the names as the now pop culture icons, Professor X and Magneto. In the movie, they were just discovering their abnormal capabilities for the first time. Like Superman and Lexx Luthor in Smallville, they were BFFs working tightly for the protection of mutantkind. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-MEN. The movie will show a few familiar comic book characters and some new faces.

No Adamantium-wielding Wolverine.

It has been confirmed that Wolverine will not be part of this adventure. Producer and story writer Bryan Singer has confirmed that Wolverine will not make any appearance. In an interview with MTV director Matthew Vaughn added that "it is important to note that this storyline takes place before the X-Men movies and the characters will appear much younger". Sorry guys, no Logan.

Casts (so far): James McAvoy as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr/Magneto, January Jones as Emma Frost/White Queen, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy/Beast, Caleb Landry Jones as Sean Cassidy/Banshee, Lucas Till as Alex Summers/Havok, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique

X-men: First Class will premier on June 3, 2011.

More scoops from IGN:

From this, we also know (thanks to leaked spy photos from the set) that the X-Jet (or Blackbird) crashes on an island during the Cuban Missile Crisis. (Shot down by a submarine, according to gossip.) And thanks to more leakage from Johnny OnSet-Spy, the rumor mill knows what colors the X-Men's costumes are (classic blue and yellow, with each character's gear personalized to them in some way), and that Mystique plays for Professor X's team during the film, sporting one of these blue and yellow outfits, before going full villain. Beast takes a significant departure from the last time we saw him on the big-screen, and he also has a fight scene with Mystique and the main villain.
