In my book so far, most of the anime-based Revoltech figures have been a delight. Collecting Revoltechs started with Dante from Devil May Cry which I mentioned before was a fantastic figure to behold. As I move along with the toy line, targeting Vash was a no brainer.
I already have Toy Tribe's version, it was okay but it is not enough to make me want to play with it. That version only allowed minimal to no articulation so I just had it on display. Other releases were fair considering that most were done between 2000-2005 that meant that these figures had lesser joints and not as dynamic as other figures to date. So guys at Revoltech created their version of Vash the Stampede in line with the movie Badlands.
Revoltech's Vash the Stampede can be represented in one word - badass. Not that I want to spoil you (or you might have read/watched a lot of reviews already). Sculpting is as impressive as Toy Tribe's offering. His red signature overall coat features a lot of details such as folds, wrinkles, buttons, buckles, paint shadows etc. At the end of the coat, he has Revoltech joints to provide a wave effect (tentacles for some) for posing. Even the three interchangeable faces were near perfect showing Vash spiky hair.
It feels overwhelming to see that Vash is surrounded with a lot of Revoltech joints all over his coat. Without these, moving the legs would be useless. Each of the 5 parts of the coat is articulated with one joint letting more room for the legs to fly and with this, Vash has a wind blown-look effect. This is very striking when he is pegged down on his weathered stone stand.
Other accessories include 10 hands which one is the hidden gun. There is also an effect part for the other revolver. What I dislike, though the detail on it is stunning, is the weathered stone. According to the instructions, this is where Vash should sit/stand up. But using this with the Revoltech base seems useless as a I can't seem to peg it right. It is by trial and error where I managed to let Vash sit on it. Not a perfect pose, but it will do for now.
Overall, this set is a must have for every Trigun fan and well as a Revoltech collector. Even if you haven't seen the anime series or don't even know who Vash is, hands down it is worth your every penny. Just ignore the weathered stone stand.
