Toy Review: S.H. Figuarts Gosei Knight

The S.H. Figuarts Gosei Knight is the first Goseiger figure to be released in the said line and is a good entry despite its Bandai Collector Shop exclusivity. Just like many firsts, GK has its hits and misses that is evident on its paint applications. Even with that said, Gosei Knight offers a number items that will slightly excite you for the arrival of the rest of the team. To early to finish the review? Wait there's more.

As the gold ranger, the box has a similar motif. But in my opinion as a advertising practitioner, the words and logos on the box look cramp and the window on the right panel seems off. This makes the Gosei Knight's name, again, seems forced in. What appeals about the design is that Bandai used a lot of the figure's image and might be a welcoming sight for nitpickers.

First set of accessories would be 10 extra hands mostly holding and relaxed hands. The holding hands for the Leon Laser guns and sword do not fit well and quite loose on GoseiKnight. The hands kind of reminds you of how metal heroes used to be and somehow presents a nostalgic feel of metal heroes of the 70s and 80s.

There are two types of Leon Laser Guns, one is without the Vulcan Headder and the Leon Cellular and the other has both already in. The Leon Cellular flips which is a nice touch. It has been awhile since we had this kind of gimmick, the last time I could recall that share the same was Ixa and Rising Ixa's phone. You can take out the phone and the headder out. My question in mind was, why would Bandai has this gimmick on the Leon Laser and then provide us a separate headder and phone that functions the same.

There are Gosei Cards included to replicate scenes from the show - go Tensou!

Next we have two (three actually) kinds of Leon Cellulars - closed and opened, the third is a smaller version and can be found around Gosei Knight's belt. A Leon Laser Sword is just as amazing to look at. You can even plug the Headder in but I can't recall if this is even been done on the show. Among the accessories, I'm slightly disappointed on the Vulcan Headder's paint applications. Yes I understand that this is quite small but the paint looks more like blotches and loosely applied on.

Based on the photos and images on the show, SHF GoseiKnight surprisingly is fashioned almost near to the character - big upper body, thick legs, almost spot on. Articulation is also undeniably similar. Because Gosei Knight doesn't really do that much flipping or Hong Kong style fighting sequences and is limit due to his armor. Same goes with its S.H. Figuarts counterpart. If there is one part I would nitpick is that my finger print sticks on Gosei Knight's inner thighs, but I can wipe it out so that's not a major annoyance.

It is rare that I would say that an exclusive figure is worth buying and GoseiKnight is included in this roster. I don't mind that GoseiKnight is less articulative (not a word) than other super sentai SHF figures. What sells is most of its parts are spot on, clean and amazing with the right amount of accessories you can choose from. There is hope that the rest of the team will look as great as this golden headder.
