The 7th Showa rider to come out the S.H. Figuarts line, this is a review of the SHF Kamen Rider V3. S.H. Figuarts is going all out with all the S.H. Figuarts showa riders and I am glad that Bandai is presenting us these. Unbeknownst to many but there are a lot of showa fans out there itching their way in updating their old school rider figures. That includes me.
Its packaging has a two-tone watermelon design both in an out of the box. This will look appealing to first time buyers (and in some cases makes me crave for a watermelon). We have V3's image in black and white and the rest is just pure V3 goodness.
V3's accessories in short is very basic with a total of 11 the hands (even a pair of henshin posing hands), extra flowing scarves that you need from doing his signature poses to dynamic action articulation.
To add to the slew of accessories is a rider kick effects part quite complicated than Ichigo and Nigos. To insert the foot, the instructions tell you that you have to disassemble the first to layers and put it back in to secure. Although that is the thought, I could not make it to work because with the foot in, there is no ample room to have this in as tight as possible. You might need a Tamashii Stand for those mid-air rider kick stances.
Last to mention is the V3 Hopper. There are two versions of this, one is already a default with the V3 Hopper latched on his waist and a separate cylinder and holder to make it more realistic. The V3 Hopper is very defined with V3's logo carved on the PVC.
Articulation on V3 is very basic - double joints on the knees and elbows. There is a limitation on swiveling the head sideways because of the collar. There is just one highlight that I want to point out is that his waist joint somehow is found underneath the belt and not on top. I maybe wrong on this one but I just don't want to force any joints leading me to buy a new one. There are also joints on the chest area so that the arms are able to reach the other end without these chest accents on the way.
Color palette is absolutely spot on but I hope the flowing scarves have hinges to have these in different angles that are more pleasing in my photos. Summarizing my review, V3 is nice to have to complete the trio and easy to play with all the basic joints SHF joints we know and love today. You might notice that the crotch seems protruding unlike Ichigo and Nigo, does this mean he is more well endowed that the other three? LOL.
