Admit it, there are similarities between ZO and J. But of course, there will be subtle differences as well. We will get through that in a bit. The packaging I say honestly is kinda bland but you can see all both figures tied up with all those annoying twisties. If you are unaware of this, the backboard design is from Doras' opened chest nothing to be excited about but nice to have as a backdrop for display.
Kamen Rider ZO has similarities to Kamen Rider J but there are details that sets him apart. For example are the gold trims that highlight most of the lines surrounding his body. Next is the neckline that has an extra grove allowing the head to move up and down better that J.
Because ZO is slightly a repaint/remold of Kamen Rider J, the red jewel accent on the waist doesn't allow much movement. A tip online suggests to move use soft pliers to bend this slightly allowing more waist articulation in the process. Just don't over do it.
S.I.C. back in early 2000s most of the couplings are in balljoints which is in my experience hard to plug the extra hands. It is a matter of twisting and turning these I was able to secure them in place confirmed by a snapping sound.
Accessory count includes a slightly opened pair of hands (again a repaint from J), an extra mouthpiece similar to that after henshin effect. That's it.
Now going to Doras,I could actually tell the difference from the SIC version and from the movie. I'm thinking how can you deform something that is already deformed? LOL. But I noticed that Doras has airbrushed darker areas to give that weathered effect and make it S.I.C.-ish.
This time, he has diecast parts like his thorns or horns on his shoulders and on the head, now this is chogokin. For some reason, Doras is more poseable than ZO especially on the abdominal area. The hindrance shifted on his legs, that won't allow you much of a spread.
He has more accessories that ZO namely, open hands, an extra alien-like arms, and two orbs that are made from die-cast and hard PVC. I'm not sure why there are two, but at least if one is lost, you have a replacement. Lastly there are two tails - one short and another is a longer version.
The long tail has a wire embedded, allowing more strategic positioning letting the figure move without the tail on its way. In my opinion, it is easy to work with the shorter tail and easy to work with when I was
taking photos.
As for its gimmick, Doras can move its mouth piece just like SIC Vol.13's Kamen Rider Kuuga.
As a set, Kamen Rider ZO and Doras has enough accessories to work you through but the limitations on the arms and shoulders hinder you to extend those to its maximum potential. For some reason, Doras is more poseable and easier to work with than ZO. Since they belong to the old SIC series, you will have to get through annoying twisties and these are made for aesthetic sakes and not really for playing. It is different nowadays, but lets reminisce how it was a few years back.
