Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods Heads To IMAX, Launches Movie Fest

Official website of the upcoming film, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods started streaming their 30-sec promotional  video for its IMAX screenings. In line with the countdown campaign,  there will be special screenings in selected cities like Osaka and Fukouka of 6 old Dragon Ball movies. As digital cinema progresses, this may be the last time that fans are able to watch these movies in 35mm films.

"The story takes place a few years after the fierce battle with Majin Buu. Bils, the God of Destruction who maintains the balance of the universe, awakens from a long slumber. Hearing rumors that a Saiyan defeated Frieza, Bils goes on a search to track down the warrior who championed this feat – Goku. King Kai advises Goku to avoid a confrontation, however, Goku is ecstatic that a new opponent has appeared after many years and decides to fight. Unfortunately, Goku is no match for Bils’ overwhelming power and is defeated. Bils leaves, asking if “there is anybody on Earth more worthy to destroy?” Will Goku and the Z Warriors really be able to stop the God of Destruction?!"
The new characters are Birusu (voiced by Kouichi Yamadera) and  Wisu (voiced by Masakazu Morita).

Some of the characters appearing in the film are Kuririn, Piccolo, Vegeta, and other familar characters will appear in the film. Film producers tells that this is not a spin off but it is about filling in the gaps and what transpired between these two chapters.

Akira Toriyama promises that the film will still have its original flavor but with a modern taste. The announcement lists Fox International Productions Japan as a member of the film's production committee, alongside Shueisha, Fuji TV, Toei Animation, Bandai, and Bandai Namco Games. Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods is set to release in Japanese theaters March 30, 2013.
