Toy Review: SH Figuarts Kamen Rider 1 (Ichigo)

First and foremost, when I started collecting SHF Kamen Riders, I vowed to only get Hsieh riders and no Showa. Something changed my mind. As a toy reviewer, I should be updated on all of  the collection of that line. As almost a year that passed, SHFs architecture and precision engineering got better. Especially with the dawn of Showa riders starting with Ichigo. Damn.

Kamen Rider 1 or Shin Ichigo for the true believers, has a brand new packaging style, though it was flicked down by comments on my youtube channel that it is just a spin-off from Sentai SHFs. Still, the box is a fresh new look all together in the advent of that one rider that started it all. The stylized box window enables the onlooker to see more items that the previous designs. Even if SHF Ichigo a regular-released rider, it looks more elegant. Simple black design.

Epically as it seems to be, he doesn't have that many accessories. However the figure came with a sword that appeared only once and an effects part mainly for his rider kick move. I love it. Other than that, he came with an extra scarf and 6 basic extra hands (two of the are in a chopping position). My complaint is that you need to have a Stage Act 4 base to have in a jump kick pose with the effects part latched on his foot. It doesn't makes sense without the base and utilizing the effects part at the same time.

The mold is what you expect from SHFs - very detailed. Bandai has managed to place folds underneath the belt and on his legs. Even his head is almost accurate, meaning the old-school helmet design is what you also see on the show. Other SHFs owners would complain that most figures of this line tends to look anorexic. Thankfully this is not evident in Ichigo. His antennas are soft rubber/plastic and not so flimsy at all. The main highlight of the sculpt is his Typhoon Henshin belt. Articulation points are also almost perfect. What was missed is that because of the scraf, head movement is limited. Another is this articulation for his ab crunch does not allow you to bend the figure forward.

I don't see any flaws on the paint apps and joints. Bandai did a splendid job in all and one of my top 5 list for 2011's releases.
