My second to the last (I hope) review of the SH Figuarts Shinkenger line - Shinken Yellow Hanaori Kotoha. The accidental Shinkenger. As the story goes, Kotoha took over her sister's pledge to the Shiba clan. Apparently, Kotoha's big sister is sick and unable to take the mantle of Shinken Yellow.
Shinken Yellow box art is patterned from previous Shinkenger releases but the box its too canary yellow and bright to stare at. Thankfully in came with the exclusive brown box so I can cover it and store it without having something shinny on my shelf.
Aesthetically speaking, her upper body is quite masculine since she is slightly molded from Shinken Red with a bit of pinched breasts. Her head is almost a match to the suit actor - meaning the head is a bit bigger for her torso. No arguments here.
Articulation wise, her upper torso bends better than Shinken Red (Takeru). This Samurai of the Earth lands flat however on arm movement and somewhat clicks in every turn. Don't worry, this is very evident in most SHF Shinkenger figures. Good thing about the arms is that the color on the arms are seemless unlike Blue and Green who have a darker shade from the rest of the body. Leg articulation is great even if you don't replace them with the extra skirt parts.
She came with the Land Slicer, a Shodophone, Shinkenmaru, 9 extra hands - two of which are unique hands for posing similar to the show during their roll call. Her Saru origami in two forms - origami mode and animal (Monkey) mode. The monkey can move its arms 360 but not sideways. Happily noticing, the Land Slicer can turn and has a handle underneath for melee mode. Shinken Yellow can also hold the big ass shuriken on the blade with such dexterity with its unique holding hand. If you look closely, you may see the disc underneath the Earth symbol. Lastly, the three-part skirt set.
I can't really find major faults in SHF Shinken Yellow except for her head and price point. The reason I see why you should get this is because you need to complete the Shinkenger line as a set and/or have spare cash to spend on it.
