Classic anime Space Battleship Yamato will have its remake and will premiere on April 7, 2012 according to Japan's Nikkan Sports newspaper. The movie will be entitled "Space Battleship Yamato 2199". The said movie is slated 38 years after its first TV series aired in 1974.
The plot is based the same as its TV series in the year 2199. Directing the anime firm is Yutaka Izubuchi, the 52-year-old animator who worked on mechanical designs and science-fiction concepts on some of the earlier projects in the franchise.
Other titual mechanical design projects that Izubuchi created are, Gundam: Char's Counterattack, Gundam 0080, Patlabor and designed characters in Record of Lodoss War and contributed to Aura Battler Dunbine, Jin-Roh, The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?
