Toy Review: SH Figuarts Gokai Blue

Hade ni ikuze!!! Gokai Blue or Joe Gibken shatters my expectation for the SH Figuarts Gokaiger line. I might have said in the past review that SH Figuarts Shinken Red is better than Gokai Red, but this Gokai Blue ensemble can make any SH Figuarts drool with awe. One of them is me.

One word to describe SH Figuarts Gokaiblue as a whole - seamless. As the second Gokaiger figure to be released in the SH Figuarts line, let me detail why I describe him as such.

Its box design is very rad. Did I say rad? I dig the blend between the blue box and the hot foil gold trims. It may not be evident with Gokai Red's but the letters in Blue's letters have a nice gradient brown shade that highlights the name even more.

Blue Gokai Darin shares the same blue color but a bit petite because it is meant to be that way just like in the series. Inside is where the fun begins. The Darin is a sit-down accessory that is way the height is lower. There are two pieces that make up this supplement - a chair and the steering wheel.

Both parts are skillfully crafted to a point that there are accents you might not even notice while watching the show. For example are the feet pedals seen on both sides and the tubing that wraps around the machine. Maybe it is a QC issue on my end but I had problems fitting the ranger key inside the hole. The wheel itself is a slightly tighter and wouldn't get that much turn like Red's.

The chair is a mix of glossy blue paint apps and gold accents to feature the nooks and crannies of the mold. At the back you may also see the Gokaiger symbol near the head rest. If you are a skillful craftsman, you may paint black lines makes the logo stand out more.

This elite swordsman, once part of Zangyack's trusted hordes, has a more refined paint and mold applications. If you have read my past SHF Super Sentai reviews, there are joints and parts of the figure that has a different shade of color that somewhat ticks the SHF Super Sentai collector. Not with GokaiBlue. I noticed after watching the 199 Super Sentai Great Hero Battle movie, the logo at the collar is a layered gold and red patch. This is not evident on the figure, so again if you are skillful enough, try to see if you can elevate this more by painting it. So far, what I see so far is good and I like it. Articulation points is never an issue with SHF Gokai figures so I expect the same fun and good engineering.

I've told Marvel figure enthusiast projectrdm on my youtube channel that I had issues liking Gokai Red because of unexplainable reasons, probably because he lacked something I that would make him playable. My guess was because of the accessory count This was answered with Gokai Blue.

Gokai Blue comes with the Gokai Gun, Gokai Sabre, two blue ranger keys and a Mobirate. Blue had more exchangeable hands, 10 to be exact with two special hands for his roll call pose. What makes Blue likable are the two additional accessories, a three prong and a two prong sword. If you would recall that Joe-focused episode that he needs to skill up by using all five swords from his team mates? He has these as add ons. Neat. In addition, you can also exchange the cylinders with 5 other tubes that had a ranger key for his Blue Slash. But these functions differently than his Gokai Sabre, meaning these are pegged and don't allow to swivel upward.

I'm actually eating my words when I got Gokai Blue, there is a bright future ahead for the rest of the Super Sentai SH Figuarts. I'm excited to get them all.
