Toy Review: S.H. Figuarts Blue Buster

Blue Buster has a clean suit design and shares a skew from other sentai heroes that are at most spandex types. This showcases its motif as a stealthy tokumei driven vaglass stopping gobuster. The combination of deep sea blue and silver paint apps accentuate the folds and creases on the whole body mold.


 Its head sculpt is almost spot on with teal colored shade looking visors help making this figure close to the actual suit. What he suffers though is the unproportioned head to body configuration and a very low shoulder that is often times distracting, showing more of the obvious joint connections. In a bird’s eye view of the figure as a whole, this has one of the best detailed sculpt but is let down by ghastly engineering. 

So lets look at some of his stuff. He is mostly like Red Buster having 3 pairs of hands, the Ichigan Buster, Sougan Blade and the Ichigan Buster Special Buster Mode. And that’s it. Again, the set could have added more value for what he is worth if only there is a normal mode for each of the weapons. This is the weakness of most S.H. Figuarts Gobuster figures. There are no other redeeming factors other than its Figuarts standard mold and paint applications. 

Blue Buster still upholds at least being consistent with the other cohorts. But since the accessories are equal the count of Red Buster’s, makes you think how come he is pegged as a Tamashii Web Exclusive. To add there are no other special offerings such as stages or add on features that makes you look forward to the rest of the team. Again, its me fighting against bigwigs in Bandai. Without looking at the price tag, Blue Buster still is a good figure nonetheless but falters on accessory count and the pursuit of character expression through humanoid action.
