Toy Review: S.H. Figuarts Kiba Ranger (White Ranger)

The S.H. Figuarts Kibaranger from the tokusatsu series Gosei Sentai Dairanger or White Ranger from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, unmistakably uses a white tiger motif with gold linings and a pearled white paint application, having that glossy white finish. Kibaranger also has a black and gold armor with the tiger crest on the chest and as a default, a holster on the waist in part of the initial look but without the Dairanger logo.

For a Tamashii Web Exclusive, it is a huge surprise what he is inclusive with. The figure only has one pair of hands, his sword called the Byakko, a longer blade for the sword and the Akibaranger crest. You can use extra white hands from other rangers like Dragon Ranger, but it will not have the same pearl white finish as Kiba Ranger. Placing the sword on the holster takes on an unconventional approach; you need to separate the blade from the handle and then attaching both back inside. There are no indentions on the crest but you can take this out by pushing at the lower part of the medal. Once out, the Akibaranger logo is placed back inside.

This is also one of the most anticipated S.H. Figuarts action figures in the super sentai line up for 2013. However this is also one of the most disappointing offerings from Bandai. Don’t get me wrong, the actual figure is still top of its class, one of the cleanest executions and the joints are not far from the latest releases. What will really tick you off are the mediocre accessory count and the price Bandai raised. As if it is meant as a joke. I’d rather recommend getting the Power Ranger release instead since you’ll be getting a less expensive figure and a better box design. At least you will not be in a loss if the Akibaranger medal is not included. More to this from the video review below.
