Toy Review: S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Garren & Red Rhombus

It is a first for Bandai to provide a set that is inclusive of the rider and the machine in S.H. Figuarts. One of these sets is the S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Garren and Red Rhombus. Garren in this scale follows the character’s gunslinger-oriented design with distinguishable diamond shapes marks all over the body. His head has this clear plastic overlapping his compound eyes while the rest of the frame naturally follows Kamen Rider Blade’s definitions.

In the set, Garren is inclusive with eight additional hands, an opened rouse card holder for the Garren Rouser, the actual Garren Rouser, 13 small Rouse Cards, and a holster to place on the figure’s right side of the belt to park his main weapon. To use the opened rouse card holder, just take out the clear closed tab and just peg it right in. There is a small slot on top of the gun, enough to swipe the small cards.

The Red Rhombus is quite a unique bike and surprisingly the red, maroon, silver and green colors blend together nicely. In this scale, Bandai didn't skip any minor detail from the actual bike especially the great craftsmanship on the wheels, engine and even the drive chain. Similarly to past releases, the bike has suspensions at the back, a working kick stand and handle bars. Part of the set is a pair of extra throttles and a rear wheel stand.

It is almost unheard of that Tamashii Nations has released a mass retail set that looks like a part of the Premium Bandai line up. Bandai should have made that move instead since that is a retail price of a two-pack set nowadays. But I wished it wasn't sold as a set because not all S.H. Figuarts collectors are rider machine enthusiasts too. It is almost as if you are forced to buy both. But I think there is a reason for it because separately, there is nothing much to offer. But as individual figures, they follow some of Kamen Rider Blade’s characteristics that I enjoyed very much. Overall, the pack is a good value. More to this from the video review below.
