Toy Review: S.H. Figuarts Alternative

Bandai released the production model Pseudo-Rider Alternative in S.H. Figuarts form as an exclusive set. This is the Pseudo-rider, though used the same joint structure, color palette and mold has some differences from Alternative Zero. First the V shape accent has disappeared on the forehead. Next the silver stripes labeled "Trial Prototype-00" on both sides of the body are now gone on Alternative. Still part of the mold is the Slash Visor card reader on his right forearm. The deck inside his transformation device can be detached from his belt.

The figure has the same 5 Advent cards. Then, other accessories include the very sharp Slash Dagger and 7 hand replacements. Again, the cards look and work differently as the barcodes are placed on left side and these are swiped against the Slash Visor.

Alternative is a true substitute if you missed the mass retail version, Alternative Zero. As long as you don’t mind the exclusive price, 1 less wrist replacement and no sliver prints along the seams, this continues to be one of the enjoyed S.H. Figuarts. This no Psycorogue on the set but doesn’t lessen the playability of the entire package.
