Toy Review: MG Figurise Kamen Rider OOO Tatoba Combo

The news was huge when we finally saw Kamen Riders enter the foray with Double/W. It seems like it was hit thus we continue on with Kamen Rider OOO, starting with of course Tatoba Combo. Box art is sleek, clear and direct to the point but in my opinion, more appealing because of the bright colors embedded in Tatoba.

I've been building BB Gundams for half a year now and I thought that I would complete this without a doubt in less time. I was wrong - I'm still a noob in model kit building. MG Tatoba has parts alphabetically starts from A-I. It scared me a lot at first but later on it was "challenge accepted" (ala Barney Stinson).

It took me about 3 days, 3 hours each day to complete the kit which includes placing the stickers in. Speaking of which, the most difficult part was placing the small stickers on the hands. I had to be intricate about it because it felt like it was a one shot deal, or else I'll be forced to paint it. And believe me I really do suck at the latter.

Once completed, Tatoba is a finest work of art I've seen yet. The arms and legs have this system that when bent, show a hint of a muscle, I find this very neat. Tatoba has great articulation points that crosses to its fingers. What bummed me out is that even though the waist and torso rest on a ball joint - the system was insignificant in the whole poseability of the kit.

Bandai also enabled the head to be detached so you can create other OOO combos with other upcoming MG Figurise OOO kits.

Accessories looks great like Medaljalibur and the OOO scanner at this size but there is a hitch. You can insert the cell medals in the sword but don't lock in position so you'll find yourself trying to move the Medaljalibur from left to right so you can see the cell medals inside. In addition, there is only one angle that you can use so you can make Tatoba hold the sword - that is resting the sword over his shoulder. Same goes with the OOO scanner. Lastly, there is a handful of medals you can use from Tatoba to Sagozo, cool.

The addition of a stand does help in placing Tatoba in different positions. You have two options, one a clamp just like the Tamashii stands or a peg that replaced the belt loop at the back if you don't want to utilize the clamp. The stand is perfect especially if you want to interchange the feet with Batta legs. It's almost impossible to make Tatoba stand with the Batta legs without the stage.

As I've said this before. MG Figurise Tatoba is for a certain crowd who likes both Tatoba and Gundams. If you ask me which MG Figurise is easier to build, I would say it is still Double/W.
