EA Acquires PopCap at $750 Million


Popular videogame industry giant Electronic Arts announced last Tuesday that they came to an agreement to acquire PopCap games for $650 million and in addition,$100 million in EA common stocks totalling $750 Million.

Electronic Arts, a videogame developer of known titles such as Fight Night, NBA Elite, NBA Jam and Sims franchise, is taking a risk of taking over PopCap Games which is responsible for casual games like Bejeweled, Feeding Frenzy, Zuma and Plants vs Zombies.

According to EA CEO John Riccitiello, said that "“PopCap’s great studio talent and powerful IP add to EA’s momentum and accelerate our drive towards a $1 billion digital business."

To date, at least over 1 billion people have played at least one PopCap Game.
