After playing as ShinkenPink in Samurai Sentai Shinkengers and her short role in the movie Kamen Rider W Returns, what's Rin Takanashi's up to lately? On a conference held last February 24th, it was revealed that Takanashi Rin will be playing a titular role in an upcoming late-night drama entitled "Houkago Groove". This will be first role in a TV Drama.
Takanashi's claim to global fame was not only her portrayal as Mako Shiraishi/ShinkenPink but her role in Abbas Kiarostami’s Japanese-language film "Like Someone in Love", screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012. ‘Arakawa Under the Bridge‘ director Iizuka Ken is set to direct the drama which was born from the fact that since April 2012, “dance” has become a part of the junior high school curriculum in Japan.
Takanashi will be playing as a physical education teacher who has no talent in dancing. She used to be a delinquent (‘yankee’) during her student days but persevered to become a teacher. Takanashi said, “When I heard about the story, I immediately wanted to get this role. A sports-minded former delinquent is a fresh character and a nice challenge. I’m already all excited about this".
TBS is going to air "Houkago Groove" every Monday shortly after midnight starting on April 22nd.
