Sentai Filmworks is planning to release the Original Video Animation (OVA) of the entire 150 episodes of Science Ninja Team Gatachaman in DVD and Blu-ray this October. The uncut version of the series will be bundled into a three part 1994-95 OVA series on DVD and Blu-ray, then the company will release the OVA in DVD only.
The classic action series is directed by Hisayuki Toriumi and features character designs by Tatsuo Yoshida with sound direction by Shigeharu Shiba and music by Bob Sakuma. The original series, produced in 1972, was eponymously named Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman and is most well known to the English-speaking world as the adaptation titled Battle of the Planets (1978). The series received additional English adaptations with G-Force: Guardians of Space (1986) and ADV Films' uncut 2005 release.
