Toy Review: S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Skull (Shinkocchou Seihou)

Out of the box Kamen Rider Skull will definitely look incomplete so you need the Skull Memory to place in to his Lost Driver, his fedora and the scarf to complete the look. The collar that wrings around his neck doesn’t hold in place unlike Eternal so you do need to peg the ball-jointed extended scarf piece to fix and lock it in on his back. The default look is what most of the fans recognize with the skull mask with the a huge S. The rest of the body used the Shinkocchou Seihou version of Kamen Rider W and changed the chest area to affirm Skull’s theme. More to this after the jump.

Parts of the set are his alternative head Skull Crystal version that is in a smokey transparent plastic, an additional scarf, a different version of the fedora with cut at the tip, a working Skull Magnum, a briefcase, a W Driver and 10 extra hands. Same with the Trigger Magnum, Skull Magnum can also turn into 2 modes and the putting down the nose will allow the Gaia Memory to be slotted in. The briefcase is also a working prop to put in the W Driver and other Gaia Memories from other W figures. Replacing the head is quite different as you need to split the head sideways as the clamps and pegs are actually on the neck. The extra scarf feels good as this is textured and can swivel in different sides.

It has been 7 years since I reviewed the first edition of Skull and again feels nostalgic reviewing this again. Overall improvement on the joints, form and shape but again it is expected in the Shinkocchou Seihou line. I’m satisfied that Bandai meshed both previous releases and combined both the good things in to one premium set. So this means you do not need to wait for another release like what Bandai did nearly a decade back as a means of a cash grab for collectors like me. The only issue I guess still remains from the first releases that the fedora in any version doesn’t snug well on Skull’s head. Find the video review below
