This is my attempt to actually review a Soul of Chogokin that is not related to any Super Sentai or Kamen Rider stuff I used to do. I bought this from my friend John in light of cleaning up his winnings but those are not up to his discriminating taste.
I was a bit hesitant to take Dragonar with Cavalier of his hands since I'm not really familiar with Dragonar and I only watched 3 separate episodes when I was a kid. I didn't know what to expect.
SOC SPEC Dragonar and Cavalier's box design can be compared to RAHs where in there is a flap on the cover that reveals the parts and indication which accent goes to which. On this first layer, I thought I would never need a set of instructions (I was terribly wrong).
Inside are two plastic trays, first layer contains Dragonar and Cavalier in separate pieces and the second is where the weapons and the unique stand lay. Since the parts are so many, I really had to read the instructions carefully.
Weapons include two rail guns, two blades/laser sword, a bomb shield, a riot shield, five hands and the Lifter 01. Attaching the weapons entails series of clip ons that I find it useful are organized when placed on Dragonar. He is more handsome with the Lifter on than the Cavalier. The wings of the Lifter can be folded if you want to make a few poses with the wings on. I had no issue balancing this guy on wings as the feet design helps a lot on stabilizing. Just in case, a Stand/Base is included for those in-flight action and this won't tumble off that easily when Dragonar is titled in the most awkward positions possible.
I can't say the same awe for the other armor - the Cavalier. It is basically a tank with two nozzles without wheels. I can't do much with this on Dragonar as it hides the arms and the legs can't do that much action. Even with that said, the mold and paint applications are neat and clean and those number decals help a lot to give more personality to a plain wall knocker. If it helps, you can adjust the turrets since they rest on a ball joint but these squeak irritatingly in doing so.
SOC's Dragonar against all of my humble robot collection is the most flexible and carries the most weapons. What I like about Dragonar is that his feet allows him to actually hold different positions even my SHFs fail on. You have to watch the review to learn more about this.
In short, I like SOC Dragonar even if Cavalier was not included.
