Garo The One Who Shines in the Darkness episode 23 is entitled: Gold "Gōrudo" (輝～Gold～) As Burai confronts Zedom by himself, Ryuga returns to the others' side to fight Sonshi. Burai offers his body to quench Zedom's fury, but the Horror replies that he only needs a Makai Knight's body to complete his plan and kills the Makai Priest instead. He orders Sonshi to bring him the body of a knight, and the Madō Horror decides to claim Ryuga's body to attend his request. After a long battle, Ryuga manages to slay Sonshi, assisted by his companions and his Garo armor finally recovers its lost golden radiance.

However, Zedom claims Sonshi's body to ressurrect itself, and as a result Hakana is on the verge of transforming into a Horror. She decides to die as a human instead, bidding farewell to Ryuga, before stabbing herself with his sword. After Ryuga mourns the death of his mother, Rian orders SG1 to take care of her body and leaves with the Makai Knights to confront Zedom. Tousei watches the scene from afar and rejoins SG1, ordering them to protect him and reinforce the city's defenses as he discovers Hakana's body in their custody. Ryuga and his friends return to the ruins just to find that Zedom had already revived, and their battle against him begins.
