Malaysian Home Ministry on Thursday issued a ban on the Malay edition of "Ultraman The Ultra Power" because of elements that threatened public order. However, new sites suspect that the comic mentioning "Allah" could be the cause why the comic was pulled out of the shelves.
“It is an offence under Section 8 (2) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 for any person to print, import, produce, reproduce, publish, sell, distribute, offer to sell or have in his possession for any such purpose the banned publication,” the ministry said in a statement.
According to sources, anyone who prints, reproduces, publishes or sells the comic could be liable to imprisonment of up to three years, or face a RM20,000 (about USD 3271.00) fine. Ultraman is a popular Japanese Tokusatsu television series that first aired in 1966.
