If Optimus Prime Is A Pen, Megatron Is A Sega Mega Drive

From the same makers of Riobot figure series, Japanese company Sen-Ti-Nel is teaming up again with Takara Tomy to release its Transformers Mega Drive Megatron. Taking its cue from Sega's 16-bit Mega Drive console the, the figure will transform form a gaming console to a Megatron's poseable robot mode. Due to release this September 2014, the figure is priced at $119.99 through Bigbadtoystore.

Takara Tomy To Release Robocop Real Figure Collection In March

A recent toy magazine scan has revealed that Takara Tomy will be issuing the  Robocop Real Figure Collection this March 2014. The non poseable mini figures stand about 85mm in height and priced at 400 yen each. These are in line with MGM's February 2014 Robocop film based on 1987 screenplay by Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner.

Transformers Go! Toy Line Inspires New Anime

With Takara Tomy's Transformers Go! toy line in the pipeline, a Transformers Go!-inspired anime is in the works. This will be further announced on the June-July issues of Terebi-kun (TV-kun) magazine and Kodansha's TV Magazine. The first wave of Takara Tomy's Transformers Go! toy line will also be present on the new anime. But unlike other anime releases, the flyer mentions that Transformers Go! anime will be unique to Japan.

Takara Tomy Fortress Maximum To Arrive In February

Finally arriving to the Takara Tomy's Encore series is Transformer's Fortress Maximus. Fortress Maximus first made an appearance as the leader of the Head Masters and this release is in line with the 25th anniversary of its first release. This huge G1-esque component also includes weapons and Fortress Maximus's own cranial Autobot named Cerebros. Set to release this February 2013, TF Encore Fortress Maximus retails at 29,800 Yen (ouch).

TakaraTomy Transformers Encore #20A Devastator Arrives on 2013

Takara Tomy has announced that it will be releasing the G1-esque Transformers Encore Devastator (Yellow version) this January 26, 2013. Combined from Decepticon 6-cell team collectively called Constructicons forms Devastator comes on a very steep price at 11,000Yen or 134.99 at BBTS. The image is subject to change on its actual release. This version is rumored to have a new head sculpt.

MP-13 Soundwave and Laserbeak Amazon Japan Exclusive Images

Takara Tomy has set loose prototype images of the MP-13 Soundwave and Laserbeak Amazon Japan Exclusive Images, a homage to the G1 tape deck concept. Some might call it a boom box. Laserbeak also transforms to a cassette tape and can be stored in Soundwave.

This set will also be revealed at the Tokyo Toy show that is currently running from June 14-17th. Amazon will also include 2 Energon cubes just like what Soundwave used to do in the 80's Transformers cartoon.

Takara Builds Optimus Prime Life-Size Snow Sculpture

Japanese toy maker Takara Tomy announced that a life-size snow sculpture of Optimus Prime is currently on the works. The autobot leader will be featured at this year's Asahikawa Winter Festival, Hokkaido Prefecture to be held on February 8 to 12. Below is Takara Tomy's artist rendition of the intended sculpt.

The construction of the 16-meter Optimus Prime started last January 6 and aims to complete in time for the festival.

Toy Review: Transformers Animated Optimus Prime (Voyager Class)

 

Until this post, I still haven't captured a glimpse of Transformer Animated and I still don't know when to catch on. Even if it aired some 3 years ago. But this didn't stop me in buying and liking Hasbro's TF Animated Optimus Prime figure. Judging by the reviews of the sempais (seniors) before me, their influences has lead me to Optimus. Besides I got Megatron, so why not get Optimus Prime as well?

The voyager box design continues to have that odd shaped imagination just like Megatron's. Just replace the Megatron's pic and blub with Optimus' and voila!. It took me a while to open it and to my surprise, the vehicle mode is quite decent. A matter that I wouldn't expect from American-released figures.

Toy Review: War for Cybertron Deluxe Cybertronian Megatron

In the epic War for Cybertron, now we know (or so it is implied) that Megatron was once a futuristic tank before he took a form of a pistol. A tank is far more convincing harbinger of destruction than a Walter P3 in my opinion. There are two versions in this vehicle mode - hovercraft and a tank. The hovercraft is just folding the tank treads at the bottom. I'd prefer with the treads on its sides.

Picking this up is a no brainer. I had the Takara Tomy version of Cybertronian Optimus Prime and what a way to make my shelf look better is to have these two side by side in their own little space. Robot mode was what I expected (similar to Optimus), futuristic body type with hints of G1 nostalgia. 

Toy Review: War for Cybertron Deluxe Soundwave

Literally my first Transformers figure after 17 years, the War for Cybertron Soundwave slightly pulled me into the Transformers mania all over again. I'm quite happy with this toy line as it brings back my youthful past with the old G1 look yet continues the modernity and complexity of today's figures.

I realized that because of my absence (and I mean long absence) there were so many variations of the communications expert Soundwave.  And I am so out of range when I saw him not as a boom box anymore. This review would be like for noobs like me who got lost in time and now trying to get back to the open arms of a forgotten love. No, I am not writing a novela.
