Toy Review: Play Arts Kai DC Variant Batman

Square Enix takes another step with another variant of Batman for the Play Arts Kai brand. Instead of lifting the design from the comic book, the company took some liberty of fusing Batman with Japanese influences. His utility belt is quite different from what you are accustomed to and the cape ends with hooks that bring more futuristic appeal on his power suit.

There are some slight differences also from past releases for his accessories. The Dark Knight has 3 replaceable hands, a Batarang, a grenade launcher and a Japanese sword that looks like a Munetoshi. The weapons grip well on the holding hand except for the Batarang that you need to slip in between the fingers to stay in place.

The re-introduction of DC Comics variants in the Play Arts Kai line provides a view of the capabilities of Square Enix to re-invent the Dark Knight with this figure. Even if there are small limitations on the shoulder articulation, elements such as the joints on the cape add drama to the poseabilities of the figure. Amongst all of my Batman figures, this is one of my favorite executions for Play Arts Kai. Sure there are hiccups here and there but rest assured this is a must buy for DC fans. More to this from the video review below.
