Toy Review: S.H. Figuarts Piccolo

Bandai was quick on its toes when they released Goku’s former foe and now great ally, twice within 4 years. The S.H. Figuarts Piccolo from the Dragon Ball series follows a bit later in the saga. His face sculpt seems like he is totally lifted from the source material and the folds and creases strengthens the figure line’s position as one of the best.

There are additional pieces included in the set such as 5 additional hand replacements for his moves, a folding arm, 2 head pieces with different face expressions and the other with a turban, then the cape parts with distinctive chest accessories. The cape is attached through the neck as you take out the default head. Then the smaller version is used so that you can use the folded arms without extra hindrances.

Everything looks perfect and Akira Toriyama will be pleased that the S.H. Figuarts version truly follows his creation. My biggest complaint however are still the sleeves held by only one joint, but there is nothing we can do about it at this point. The cape is a great addition to the set but it hinders much of the head articulation. Nevertheless, this is a great must-have for S.H. Figuarts collectors.
