Toy Review: Figma Gon Freecss (Hunter x Hunter)

When Maxfactory was working on a Hunter x Hunter figure it is without a doubt the first to be released is primary protagonist Gon Freecss. I must say that the Figma Gon is a nicely sculpted figure with his signature spikey hair and those big anime eyes. Gon in this figure scale still comprises of his known outfit, a green jacket with red trims, green shorts, and finally his green laced boots.

Gon is inclusive of the glass known in the series to determine his Nen, 9 extra hands, 8 of these are kept in a plastic tray, an angry face replacement, a backpack, a Figma stage and two kinds of fishing poles. The difference between these poles aside from the length is that the longer version has a softer tip allowing a nice bend but warps back to its original mold. The other rod is to holster on the backpack. Instruction manual says that you need to remove both arms to slide the backpack but one will do. Once you have managed to do this, a peg is included to secure this better on Gon. His face replacement is not an easy task as you might hurt yourself from Gon’s spikey hair.

With Gon’s arrival in the Figma line, has opened doors to the rest of the characters to follow suit. Gon has great amount of articulation and smooth acrylic paint application. The only item that gripped me the most is the extra face replacement as if he was punched in the nose rendering him flat. Soft joints may be a disadvantage for first time Figma collectors but you will outgrow this and love the figure even more. More to this from the video review below.
