Toy Review: SOTA Street Fighter Ibuki

 

Sota's street Fighter Ibuki is probably the first Sota Street Fighter figure that didn't debut in SF Alpha but in Street Fighter 3rd Strike.

According to Street Fighter Wiki: Ibuki lives in a village entirely composed of ninjas where she has been training since childhood. After doing the same routine everyday and attending a school for ninjas, she wishes to live like a normal schoolgirl.

I mentioned on this blog about one sound inside the Mobirates that says Kamen Rider OOO, thus the rumor of a Kamen Rider OOO/Gokaiger mashup.

People in Japan started creating more custom Gokaiger keys to make Kamen Rider Keys. These are very creative and the molds can be mistaken for the real thing. No, these are not fakes but a rendition of a Kamen Rider Key should Gokaigers meet the riders.

SH Figuarts Ridevendor and Medal Set - no transformation?

It was mentioned during the Tamashii event that one of the Tamashii Web Exclusive offering is the SH Figuarts Ridevendor and Medal Set. It may come as a lighting bolt of glee but it may dismay a lot of Kamen Rider OOO fans. Because many are hoping that this would look and feel better than the DX version.

Toy Review: SOTA Street Fighter Fei Long

 

SOTA's Street Fighter Fei Long is Street Fighter's (Capcom) tribute to Bruce Lee. If you don't know this character or was too young to get to play him here is bits about him:

Fei-Long is a tribute to the Kung Fu movie legend Bruce Lee. Not only do the two look alike and come from the same city, Fei-Long also lets out similar battle cries to Lee, and is just as furious and fast. Also, Fei Long is Mandarin for "flying dragon", as well as a type of kick. Bruce Lee's Chinese screen name was 李 小龍 (Li Xiao-Long) or "little dragon." He was one of the early Bruce Lee look-alike characters in fighting games, after Kim Dragon from World Heroes and Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat, but predating Marshall Law and his son Forrest Law from the Tekken series, Li Long and Maxi from the Soul series, and Jann Lee from the Dead or Alive series. 

DekaRanger Actors to appear in Gokaiger

 

In Episode 2, we had a preview of Kai (MagiRed) coming back to the small screen in Gokaiger. Now we have some DekaRanger characters also confirmed to return in the Gokaiger series Banban(DekaRed), Marika (DekaYellow) and DekaMaster, are set to return in the 4th and 5th episode of Gokaiger!

According to news sources, DekaMaster's role is aimed to hone Don's swordsmanship. No further information has been stated about their return, and thus, expect upcoming updates in the following days.

Its all Unkh's fault in Let's Go Kamen Riders Movie!

Minor spoiler alert and more images on the upcoming Den-O movie, All Rider: Let’s Go Kamen Rider.

Intro: Kamen Rider OOO starts with fighting with the Mole Imagin thinking that they are Greeds.

This Imagin enters a kid and disappears. Den-liner appears and Kotaro flies back to Nov 11, 1971 - the time when the first Kamen Rider was introduced. Without noticing it, Eiji and Unkh rides the Denliner.

March 2011 Release: Candy Toy OOO Medal Set 3 and Capsule Toy Set 4

Before these were all scans and mere speculations but now we have proof that the new Candy Toy OOO Medal 3 and 4 exists.Expected to release next month. I'll give you a run down of what to expect.

Candy Toy O-Medal 3: Sachi Core, Unagi Core, Tako Core, Kuwagata Core, Condor Cell ,Ptera Cell - although not seen this is confirmed, New Den-O Kuuga (Mighty Form), V3, 11 Rider SP.

The Unagi was taken from Candy Toy set 2 and Kuuga was taken from Rising Ultimate Red Eyes Gachapon 3. Of course they function differently when used in Ganbaride Machines.

Toy Review: SH Figuarts Kamen Rider OOO Tatoba

I've been waiting for this figure to arrive in the Lion City for many weeks now. Patience is a virtue and good things comes to those who wait. I'm excited to get a hand on the SHF Tatoba combo just because I wanted to get Unkh (now I know the real spelling). As per one of my comments from my Youtube subscriber, the name Unkh is from the Hindi word Ankh which means the eye. Bet you didn't know huh? (Am I describing myself?). Is he worth it or forgettable? Let's find out.

Kamen Rider OOO Tamashii COMBO WTF!

 

I KNEW IT!!!

For months I've been speculating that because OOO will be teaming up with Den-o and the Imagins, there should be something crazy Toei is cooking. I was right. Lo and behold, Kamen Rider OOO Tamashii Combo. (scratching my head)

In the upcoming Kamen Rider OOO – Den-O – All Riders: Let’s Go KAMEN RIDERS movie opening this April, Kamen Rider OOO will be utilizing Taka (Hawk), Imagin and Shocker Core Medals. The logo on the chest has three parts (obviously), the Hawk, Momotaros face and the Shocker logo at the bottom. Additional features will be horns on OOO shoulders and golden legs. If this combo comes out as an SHF figure, I'll be - Oh I don't know, doing cartwheels in irritation. There is not much said how Eiji will acquire the medals and no reason why Toei choose Shocker as the 3rd medal. My guess is to commemorate Ichigo?

Gokaiger EP 1-2 Impressions

 Episode 1

I do feel a bit of nostalgia watching 34 past Super Sentai teams in true synergy on the advent of the 35th Super Sentai series - Gokaigers. I started watching Super Sentai series starting with Bioman and  we role play after the show, usually in my group of friends, I'm always Red One (ahem). Through the years, I was immersed to more super sentai teams and my fave so far was Maskman because of the drama involving Red Mask and Rio. I didn't even realize that it has been 35 years since. I'm almost as old as the series.

Anyways, Gokaiger's opening was epic, as all 1st episodes do. We were introduced to the characters namely Ahim (GokaiPink) the princess, Luka (GokaiYellow) the hot headed (but beautiful tomboy), Joe (GokaiBlue) the smooth, second-in-command, small talker, Doc/Don (GokaiGreen) the childish yet smart pirate and Captain Marvelous (GokaiRed) enough said.

Happy Birthday Fujioka Hiroshi!

Happy Birthday Fujioka Hiroshi. If you don't know him - well he is just Kamen Rider Ichigo meaning he is the first Kamen Rider actor - Ichigo = first. That's all.

Gokaiger Key - DX vs. Gachapon

 

The Gokaiger weapons and gadgets are selling hotcakes nowaday which I haven't seen before. The Gokaiger Mobirate is the most popular one because like Kamen Riders cards, memory or medals, there is a thrill in collecting keys. The keys look like past and present super sentai and with one flip, changes into keys where the Gokaigers can change into past sentai heroes and adapt their special abilities. But do you know the difference between the keys that came with the box from the candy toys?

Well candy toys or Gachapons come as three separate parts. Just like Kamen Rider OOO, it has the head, body and legs which interconnects together to form the Gokaiger key. Moreover, you have to place those stickers (like gachapon gaia memories) on to the key, these are mainly for the chest. The clincher is the sticker the Gachapon are less brighter or have a different shade or color just like the image below. Don't worry they still work perfectly on the Gokaiger mobile gadget.

Behind Tatoba Jingle and Three in One Combos

A rumor has just raised about Kamen Rider OOO’s Tatoba Combo and his quote “Ultimate Form”. There is a reason why there is a henshin sound for Tatoba which kinda mysterious because this is the only uncompleted combo that has a “ringtone” to it unlike Sagozo or Gatakiriba for instance. Tatoba comprises of 3 medals, Taka (hawk), Tora (tiger), and Batta (grasshopper). Apparently Kamen Rider OOO’s creator found out the advantages ability and skills of TaToBa, only through the combo that the true nature of the medals is hidden.

Toy Review: OCC Kamen Rider OOO Latorata Combo

This specific combo change series figure is fitting to your taste especially if you have the Toravendor (well, until the SHF version comes out). What's great about the combo change series is that its affordable and has a high return of investment because unlike SHFs, you don't have to buy all the expensive individual combos. You just need one of each interchange its parts with other figures in the toy line. The head, (lion) mid section  (tora) and legs (cheetah) split so you can mix and match other OCCs and create a new combo  for your self. Another thing why this has advantages because it has gimmicks that you probably won't see in SHFs like the flaps on the sides of the cheetah legs or that one flipping Tora claws.

I just realized the things I've been missing ever since I got a hold of the Terebi magazine. Though I don't have the capacity to read text in Kanji or Katakana, pictures alone have a lot of things to say (ummm, a picture paints a thousand words?) to what to expect for the upcoming series of the my fave toku series - Kamen Rider and Super Sentai. It also had me relived my passion to old and almost forgotten nihon shows such as Ultraman and Dragon Ball.

Saddest game trailer...ever...Dead Island

Ever since Resident Evil, I’ve been a fan of horror zombie games. I had a bunch of friends would sit around me, kill the lights and start playing. On occasions, would hold the pause button to catch our breaths and settle down and continue again. My affinity for horror zombie games never cease – thus I’m always on the lookout for all freaky and fresh. Then I divulge myself with House of the Dead, Fatal frame and was ecstatic with the mind twisting guilt trip Silent Hill series. Don’t forget to mention Left 4 Dead and the Sony Exclusive Japanese game Siren.

I was and still am in delight to play zombie and horror games filled with blood, guts and gore. For me, the more I see innards that spill out of characters, the better. The more perverse the story is the better. Silent Hill for me was life changing as the plot surrounds the twisted human condition magnified by creepy-looking, over-the top-metaphoric evil. Until last week I just saw this trailer.

My first "one time big time" huge purchase to date. The Chinese New Year ended recently so I went on the hunt for more figures and finally the post office started working again. First came the SIC Kiwami Tamashii Blade, King Form and Garren. Then I made a decision to cancel my order for the Toravendor by the damn thing locally. Beside the price for it is equivalent of it SRP (suggested retail price) and the shipping cost if bought from overseas like Japan or Hong Kong. 

Next was my eBay purchase of the SHF Gattack and Dark Kabuto. Yes I confess, my first SHF Kabuto series was the Hyper Form. I was honestly late in collecting the SHF figure line, so I wanted to catch up really bad. 

Accidentally, I came across a March 2011 issue of the Terebi Magazine (which I mistakenly thought it was a Hyper Hobby mag) which had the exclusive Kamen Rider OOO Gachapon Panda Medal. I bought it without hesitate so there. Texts on the mag were in Kanji and Katakana but I don't care LOL. I will decipher it with my aptitude to context clues.

Toy Review: BB Gundam Gerbera

My toy review of the BB Gundam Gerbera. As expected, there is no way you cannot miss this cute toy as female Gundam because of its very pink colored base. To add, there are very girlish buns with a bit of familiarity with Street Fighter's Chun-li. Her overall stature is like a metal-fashioned Japanese Iromuji (色無地) (single-colored kimono) accented by a huge bow mixed with Chinese influence (well because it should be patterned after the Chinese tale). To date, she is one of the leaner BB Gundam models I ever came across.

Kamen Rider OOO Combo Change Series Tajadol (Tajadoru) Overview

Combo Change Series line has a bit of an edge from SHFs - which is the additional gimmicks that almost replicates the action done in the TV series. Let take a tour of the details of this toy. 

Kamen Rider OOO/Super Sentai Gokaiger Mashup?

There is a rumor circulating that there will be a mashup or a cross over between Kamen Rider OOO and the Gokaigers. It hasn't been specified yet if it will be through the show or in a movie. The reason I said this is because of the viral videos posted on Youtube wherein one of the sounds in Gokaiger's Mobirates says 'Kamen Rider OOO'.

SH Figuarts Shinkenger - Shinken Red

Bandai's SH Figuarts line this month is releasing its first Super Sentai figure starting with Shinken Red. The said toy will have 7 extra hands, 1 Tora origami and 1 Fire origami, 1 Shodophone (epic!), 1 Shinkenmaru -or sword with a disk, 1 Rekka Daizantou that is so huge it had to be put in the box sideways. Just like Kamen Rider OOO Tatoba combo, he will come with an exclusive Kuroko-chan (黒子?) they are the Shiba House's servants who "set up" the scene during the Shinkengers' transformation.

Kamen Rider W Returns Poster and Trailer (Update)

I have mentioned before there will be another Kamen Rider W Movie coming mid 2011 entitled - Kamen Rider W Returns which will be divided into two stories. The first will be a spin-off after the A-Z Gaia Memories of Fate wherein newly wed Terui Ryu and Narumi Akiko(yes they where married) and the other is a back story of the dead mercenary Katsumi Daido and how he founded the terrorist group NEVER and how he became Kamen Rider Eternal. Eternal's story may answer your question how and why he assembled the terrorist group, which is kind of shady when he was introduced in A-Z movie.

Torikera (triceratops) Candriod Seen!

Recently, the scan of Torikera [Triceratops] Candroid has been hitting the net. According to the document the Torikera will be shooting cell medals from its back and through and between the horns. Kamen Rider OOO may use this soon, or probably Birth. The said Bandai collectible is scheduled to be released in April 2011 . It is now on pre-order for  Y28000 or approximately USD34.99. There is a chance that the price may change once it gets closer to its release that will start to reflect the actual MSRP on the other more common Japanese toy selling sites.

Since finally I got my DX Core Medal Set 2 and 3, I might as well try to glitch them. So out of boredom, I recently glitched Core Medal Set 2 and Core Medal Set 3 and mix them with other default medal. Here we go.

Weaponizing Gokaisilver and GokaiGold

After we revealed GokaiSilver and that Decade-looking form (probably more Diend-ish) its time to know GokaiSilver's weapons. First he has a three-phase Trident which converts into staff and gun mode. The first phase is pretty much a Trident that send volts of electricity to villains. The three sharp ends fold down to transform into the gun's handle and trigger. In GokaiGold mode, the trident's points connect together to form a sharp anchor which again sends lighting bolts.

To transform GokaiSilver to Gold form he needs two things, one is a 6th or 7th ranger key and the GokaiGold key - which looks like an golden anchor. Below are the 6th rangers GokaiSilver can transform into. GokaiGold's chest reveals most of the past 6th ranger (which is kinda creepy) and it is shaped like a huge anchor, I think this is the whole motif for GokaiSilver/GokaiGold.

Toy Review: SOTA Street Fighter Sodom

Imported from Final Fight game, Sodom made his way to the Street Fighter franchise debuting in Street Fighter Alpha 2 together with his arch nemesis - Guy. For those of you who don't know Sodom is also called Katana in the US Snes version.

He comes with the following accessories:

• Hat - the hat or the takuhatsugasa in Japanese, is one of the least selling point to pick this one up. The cloth fabric has the tendency to peel off. There are grooves inside the hat that should latch perfectly on the head, but alas its not. It tends to fall off quite easily. You may want to apply "patience is a virtue" mantra. 
• The holding hands are the default hands, the extra hand is the one with the Japanese fan. The fan is already fixed and cannot be used for other purposes. 
• 2 Sais which serves as his primary weapons of destruction (no it isn't). I meant weapon of choice. Both sais have yarn-like thread tied to the end of the weapons. Nothing fantastic.

Sodom has lesser articulation points: a single elbow joint, no waist articulation and the foot doesn't swivel from left to right. So why I am saying that I like this figure again? The sculpt is very accurate to the game and although he has less articulation, Sodom is still  poseable figure unlike M.Bison who looks very stiff. I like the color combination which makes Sodom one of the colorful characters in the game franchise. Despite the noticeable misses the figure is a must for Street Fighter aficionados and to Final Fight fans as well. Two loves in one. Sota's Sodom is hard one not to miss.

Goseiger and Gokaiger Passing the Torch

It has been a recent tradition of Red Rangers to pass on the torch (or handing over) to their successor. Now that GoseiRed has passed GokaiRed the responsibilities (so to speak) of a Red Ranger, lets take a look back and reminisce other Red Rangers who have done the same and lets all welcome Gokaigers! Wow that was fast. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger has yet to premier next week but we have a confirmed image of Gokaiger’s 6th ranger – Gokaisilver.

Gokaisilver transformation gadget is called GokaiCellular (hmmm just like past mobile phone henshin devices). His Ranger Key resembles a ship’s anchor, with one push of the button on top he becomes GokaiSilver. It is also confirmed that he will have most of the past 6th ranger abilities and identities. His weapon of choice is a spear called GokaiSpear which has a 3-step transformation. Just like other member of the Gokaigers, GokaiSilver enters a certain combination and inserts a Sixth Rangers Key to transform into the past 6th warrior.

Powers increased

GokaiSilver has an armoured mode called Gold Mode that is quite similar to Kamen Rider Decade or Diend fashioning all the faces or helmets of all Super Sentai sixth rangers namely GoseiKnight KibaRanger, BoukenSilver, DragonRanger, MegaSilver, KingRanger, Go-On Wings, ShinkenGold, Shurikenger, AbareKiller, MagiShine, GaoSilver, TimeFire, and DekaBreak. 

I’m guessing that this character will appear on the 15-17th episode just like the other past 6th Rangers. We’ll I might be wrong you know.

Kamen Rider W Returns Trailer

Finally, we found a Kamen Rider Returns trailer posted on Youtube recently. The trailer shows Kamen Rider Accel Booster in action and also, Kamen Rider Eternal. It remains to be seen whether Eternal was on the side of good before joining the dark side. Kamen Rider W Returns is set to be released on April 21 (Accel) and on July 21 Eternal), 2011 as a V Cinema on DVD. Enjoy the trailer below.

Teens Arrested for Thefts at K-On! Model School

Police in Wakayama Prefecture arrested an unemployed 18-year-old male from Shirahama Town and a 17-year-old male from Tanabe City on Friday afternoon for allegedly stealing guitars and character figures from the real-life model for the K-ON! anime's school.

According to the police investigation, the two suspects broke into the display area in the former campus of Toyosato Elementary School in Shiga Prefecture on November 17 at around 1:30 a.m. The suspects allegedly stole about 20 character figures, three guitars similar to those seen in the anime, and two cash boxes with several hundred thousand yen (about several thousand U.S. dollars).

Police in Tanabe arrested the 18-year-old suspect in December for allegedly stealing cash from local supermarkets, offices, and other places. During a search of the older suspect's home, the police discovered figures and other items. According to the police, the suspects said that they liked K-ON! so they wanted the figures. The police believe the two are associates of a group that repeatedly broke into offices in their prefecture.

In 2009, Kyoto Animation modeled the K-ON! anime's fictional Sakuragaoka High School after the Toyosato campus, which was being repurposed since new school facilities were built. In the year between May 2009 and May 2010, about 40,000 fans visited the campus, and over 1,000 goods were put on display. The guitars and 22 figures that were stolen were all given by fans, and the cash box contained proceeds from the on-campus shop. On November 19, the guitars, an empty cash box, and other items were discovered in a ditch at a field near the campus.

Sixth Gokaiger rumors and Legacy War movie info

According to sources, there will be a 80-minute version of the Super Sentai "Legacy War" and it is rumored to premier on May 21st.There are no additional info as of the moment as to how the Legacy War Movie will pan out (most likely like Decade). But I do hope that the movie will stay true to the Super Sentai history and not like Kamen Rider Decade which is based on an alternative universe (AU).

In other news, there is also a rumored detail on the 6th Gokaiger named GokaiSilver.

• GokaiSilver is the 6th Ranger, but can transform into Gokai Gold.
• He can transform with something called the GokaiCellular. His "Complete Form" is the GokaiGold. The GokaiCelluar comes with the GokaiSilver key, unknown if it will come with a GokaiGold Key.
• GokaiSpear is the GokaiSilver's weapon. He has a 3-step transformation, it comes with the Dragonranger key.
• GokaiSilver to GokaiGold Henshin Figure. Comes with GokaiGold transformation key.
• Sixth Ranger Weapons Set (Dragonranger's ZyuSouken and Go-On Wing's Rocket Booster, etc.)
• Joint Gattai Dekaranger Robo, MagiKing, ShinkenOh and Daizyujin (Zyuranger).

The details are highly plausible and likely that GokaiSilver will have the past 6th ranger abilities and powers. Kamen Rider Figma Releases on May 2011

They are slowly getting the seal of approval from Kamen Rider toy collectors and possibly the best looking Ryuki-based figures to date - I'm talking about Figmas, the same people who made Medicom Toys, and those awfully priced Project BMs. To date, Onyx (Ryuga in Japan), Spear (Imperer) and Wrath (Odin) are now on pre-orders in you favorite online Japanese stores. Onyx 2,360 yen , Spear 2,220 yen and Odin for 2,360 yen (estimated price). Figma kamen rider toys are very competitive with SHF figures. Very nice articulation and almost perfect hidden joints. Check Amiami's website for more details. The reason why they are based on the American adaptation of Kamen Rider Ryuki is because Bandai was not able to get the rights for this toy line. Enough said.
