Firestarter's Season 1 - The Colleczione Redux

Just toying around the photos I did for the past year of reviewing tons of figures. I just realized I already taken more than 1000 photos not only on youtube but also on my facebook page and my blog. I call this my evolution from a clueless toy reviewer taking ridiculous looking pics to the some I call amazing. There are still a lot of photos that got deleted accidentally along the way it is just a shame. Anyways, This is Firestarter's review/photo collection for 2010-2011. Enjoy.

Firestarter's Toy Reviews End of Season 1

It has been a great year. I have so many people to thank and who have been uberly supportive of what I do. First I would like to thank my online buddy Locust for introducing me back to the SIC world and assuring me that everything is better now. He also acts like my appointed PR manager, promoting relentlessly my videos and toy reviews on his pages and in so many sites I don't even know.

Wishlist Toys' Rhett Panlilio who entrusted me some responsibilities and believing in what I do that would help others in their purchases. Also, He recreated the banner on my blog to make it more appealing. He almost puts me in a pedestal that I feel I am not worthy of. To TPC page - they are equally supportive and one of the best groups I've ever encountered in my life. There is such thing as true camaraderie in the Tokuworld. TPC is without what I call "Kamen Likers" - namely Jerome, Edrian, Ram and the rest of TPC.

I've collected the top 15 SH Figuarts Kamen Rider and Super Sentai series from 2011 starting from Dec 2010 to December 2011. I came out with 15 since 10 is just not enough to tell how awesome 2011 was.

These are just in my opinion only and not influenced by outside groups. I know there are just so many great looking SHFs released in 2011 but I think I missed one or two in the list. Let me know your thoughts if these are also part of your top list.

Toy Review: SH Figuarts Kamen Rider Eternal Red Flare

It's like coming back to my roots, posting a review that placed me into HJU's map. Welcome to my review of the S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Eternal Red Flare from the movie Kamen Rider W Returns - Eternal. Honestly, me buying SH Figuarts Eternal Red Flare was an accident. I was camping at the what Singaporean's call secretively "the bird's nest" for pre-orders. While I was frantically clicking away all December releases, I clicked pre-order on Red Flare without thinking. Was it a happy mistake?

Eternal Red Flare's box design is like Eternal's. The changes are on the letters which are now in hot red and there are flame designs to highlight the name of the character. Similarities also continues on the thickness of the box. As a whole, undeniably, this is almost a mirror image of Kamen Rider Eternal.

SH Figuarts Kamen Rider Ryuki Blank Form is another base figure released years after the Kuuga. Making base forms is probably not that difficult to create since we already have Ryuki. Repaint, restructure and we have Blank Form. Blank Form came from the announcement from the Tamashii Nations 2011 event which featured cool and more exciting upcoming SH Figuarts. I'm salivating just remembering these now.

Box art is different from previous Tamashii Web Exclusives. A monotone blue with Ryuki's silhouette is placed in front. It has the SH Figuarts, Tamashii 2011, and a different Ryuki Image in a Lego-like form on the left side and the shows logo underneath the silhouette. For all Tamashii Nations 2011-related exclusive figures whether it is Saint Seiya, Rockman, or Tiger and Bunny, the layout would be the same.

Preview: SH Figuarts Ankh Complete

SH Figuarts Ankh Complete has been revealed. So far as per post in Tamashii.jp, Ankh Complete has 5 extra hands and a Tamashii Stage with all Greeed Logos. This Tamashii Web Exclusive is priced at 3675 Yen. Release Date: May 2012.

Tokumei Sentai Gobusters site has officially opened in TV Asahi 5 list. In line with this, new character background and series plot were revealed. It is official that Naomi Takebe will be producing the series, Yasuko Kabayashi will be the Head Script Writer and Hirofumi Fukuzawa is the Action Director.

The plot starts at 13 years ago when a Bug Program was accidentally created and is wreaking havoc on the Energy Management Office's Main Computer. As a result, a unknown energy is created called as "Vaam".

At present, Vaam becomes a viable source of energy and its evil counterpart begins invading Earth. There were 3 children who escaped from the Energy Management office are our budding heroes accompanied by their BuddyRoids.

Before there was Kamen Rider Fourze, Kamen Rider Super 1 was a Rider built by the Americans and Japanese for him to survive in space without the bulky stuff. That is why Super-1 has tassels similar to a cowboy's upper garment.

I'm totally excited on the latest releases of Bandai's S.I.C. line. Super in SIC just becomes and understatement. A good example is SIC Kamen Rider Super - 1, one of the final triumvirates that is needed to complete the Showa era. If you were hesitating before in including SICs in your collection of riders, now is the time get back on the saddle and ride with me through this review.

Toy Review: SH Figuarts Kamen Rider Den-O Climax Form

Things just gets better and better as we end 2011 let alone the season to be jolly at climax. Welcome to my written review of the SH Figuarts Kamen Rider Den-O Climax form. I've been pondering for quite awhile how long did it take to have another Den-O SHF on the shelves. So far in the SHF line we had 4 exclusives, a re-issue (sort of), all Taros in place including Seig Imagin and of course Hana (just in case you've forgotten).

This year 2011, we are given one more taste of Den-O's awesomeness with Climax Form. We are almost there before Den-O Sword Form. We had a glimpse at the Tamashii Nations 2011 event. The box art of Den-O Climax Form also takes on a different form from past Den-O related figures. Instead of a mono color scheme, Climax showcases a bright take.

Gokaiger episode 45 is entitled: "Awatenbō Ninja" (慌てん坊忍者). Again, this episode will be aired on January 8. 2012 so there's no Super Hero Time on New Year's Day. Kazuo Yao and Satomi Hirose returns as Ninjaman and NinjaWhite on this Ninja Sentai Kakuranger tribute episode.

With the Gokaigers holding 28 of the 34 greater powers, and Basco with 5, the Gokai Galleon crew discovers that last one is that of the Ninja Sentai Kakuranger. Remembering Negakure Temple, the crew finds a strange pot containing the Kakurangers' ally Ninjaman who tests them to see if they are worthy of the Kakurangers' greater power.

Gokaiger 44: A Lovely Christmas Eve - Sub

Gokaiger Episode 44 is entitled - “A Lovely Christmas Eve” "Suteki na Seiya" (素敵な聖夜). Gai introduces Luka to Christmas season and goes out to prepare for the festivities. But their shopping was interrupted by two siblings Sayo and Seiji. Later on their meeting was cut off by Zangyack's Bibaboo who turns people as dolls with a magic wand.

There are few surprises to this story like Sayo turning into Gokai Yellow as part of Luka's plan, GokaiSilver uses Gokai Red and Green's ranger keys to form Gokai Christmas and Kenji Ohba makes another cameo as Shiro Akebono aka Battle Kenya sheepishly dressed up as Santa Claus. The teams realizes that the Battle Fever J's power is in the spirit of Christmas.

Fourze episode 17 is entitled - Appearance of the Meteor Ryū Sei Tō Jō" (流・星・登・場). This next episode will air on January 8, 2012 so we don't have Super Hero Time on New Year's day. Ryusei Sakuta aka Kamen Rider Meteor and befriends Gentaro and the rest of the Kamen Rider Club. But he doesn't tell him yet that he is Meteor, however he tries to help Gentaro in any which way he can. In other scenes, Gentaro is searching for Meteor's identity but doesn't realize it is only under his nose.

Fourze 16: Right and Wrong Troubles - Sub

Fourze episode 16 is entitled: "Right and Wrong Troubles" - Sei Ja Kat Tō (正・邪・葛・藤) which has been aired on Christmas day. Fourze is bound to make friends with Perseus Zodiarts and save Christmas day for the pre-school kids. While battling Perseus Zodiarts together with the Zodiart Principal, a new Kamen Rider appears. Kamen Rider Meteor presents himself with a fighting style like Bruce Lee and slightly saves Gentaro and the rest of the KRC. But Kamen Rider Meteor's identity is still kept from our band of misfits. Will Meteor reveal himself to the Kamen Rider Club?

New Switches Images and Magnet State Info

More images and information of the upcoming Fourze's 4th transformation, Magnet States (仮面ライダーフォーゼマグネットステイツ). New images also include soon to be revealed switches for Fourze.

Magnet States is formed from using two Astro Switches namely the Magnet N Switch (No.30) and the Magnet S Switch (No.31) and the NS MagPhone.

As you may know by now, Fourze's secondary rider Kamen Rider Meteor will formally appear on Christmas Day. Previously, Kamen Rider Meteor made his debut on the movie Kamen Rider x Kamen Rider Fourze and OOO Movie War Megamax.

Kamen Rider Meteor's motif came from heavenly bodies and of course from a meteor. Ryou Yoshizawa will play the coveted role of Ryusei Sakuta AKA Kamen Rider Meteor. Meteor is a said to be a transfer student but no one knows his true purpose and identity. Meteor will purposely hide his henshin ability from the student body unlike Fourze. How Meteor's identity be known to be linked to Ryusei is also unknown.

New images of the Gobusters have been leaked in line with the upcoming movie Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger vs Uchuu Keiji Gavan THE MOVIE. The next super sentai team will appear on the said movie and they will face Basco Ta Jolokia.

In previous rumors, it was mentioned that the treatment will be similar to GekiRanger and Go-Onger where there will be 3 members appearing and the rest will follow through the rest of the series. However, there are no confirmations of this as of yet and Gobusters may end up like SunVulcan having 3 members only.

Toy Review: SH Figuarts Kamen Rider Punch Hopper and Kick Hopper

Welcome to my review of the Hell Bros., depressed Kamen Rider-at-arms. Took me quite a few months to finally review these two SHFs. About nearly 6 months ago SHF KickHopper just got re-released due to the clamor of SHF fans and seems to have some sort of shortage. Because of this, PunchHopper became the rare figure to find. Especially if you want the first release edition which includes a Stage Act 1/2 stand.

It has been ages since I did a double review, but it is hard to separate them from each other because SHF Kamen Rider KickHopper and PunchHopper are practically of the same mold with slight differences in terms of paint apps and position of their mechanical arm/leg. Like I said earlier, only PunchHopper is the first release edition so he only has the stand.

Just fresh from Tamashii.jp is the announcement of 3 new Kamen Rider/Super Sentai toys in SH Figuarts line. These are none other than SHF Kamen Rider Fourze FireStates, SHF Super ShinkenRed and SHF Kamen Rider Zolda (Ryuki). Super ShinkenRed and Zolda were featured previously on the 2011 Tamashii Nations event while Fourze FireStates was formally announced earlier on the site this month of December.

AmiAmi Scoops New Robot Chogokin Daizyujin

In a recent post in AmiAmi blog, the japan hobby store recently interviewed the Robot Chogokin designers on what is the process and challenges that people at Bandai face when developing the next D-Arts or the next Robot Chogokin. You may check the blog post here.

With this, Amiami blog also revealed the next Robot Chogokin that is rumored to debut next year - the Daizujin! Robot Chogokin Daizujin was first reveaed at the Tamashii Nations 2011 event but camera's were not allowed to take photos of the said toy. It was also announced that other RC to be formally announced are GekiTouja, and Magi, Ghost and Shinken GokaiOh.

The are more scanned images lurking around the net for the upcoming WB live-action movie manga adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin. We have here some behind the scene images together with our actor Takeru Satoh as our fabled hero. The images also include screenshots from the teaser trailer. The movie is slated to premier on August 25, 2012

After North Korean leader Kim Jong-il's passing, it has been said in various new sites that his son, Kim Jong-un was described as "the great successor" to lead Communist nation.

In other news a man who claimed that he has been classmates with Jong-un said that he is a Japanese Manga fan. This was reported through a German weekly newspaper Welt am Sonntag. Jong-un reportedly studied at the International School of Berne in Switzerland in the mid-1990s under the pseudonym Pak Chol.

Toy Review: SH Figuarts Kamen Rider Yuuki

Finally...after searching for months and months for an SHF Kamen Rider Yuuki, that is not ridiculously priced, has come to an end. Skimming at Mandarake's online hobby shop I stumbled upon Yuuki at 4000 yen. Not bad since today's mark up could have been triple the price. So if you are as lucky as me, hooray.

The box art is damn straight forward since this figure belongs to SHF's infancy. Before there was a Bandai Collector shop logo, there was a Tamashii Web Shop sitting underneath Yuuki's name. Yuuki I guess is the first SHF with a two-layered plastic tray because of the accessories that came with it.

As Gokaiger Vs Gavan the movie is nearing its premier, Toei has released a 16-sec version and a movie promo. These were aired after December 18's Gokaiger episode. In the trailers, we will see a lot of action between the pirates and the sheriff, and finally a clearer view of Gavan Bootleg.

We will also see Gavan's ship Dolgiran working side by side with GorjyuDrill, GokaiGalleon. Also it has been awhile but Gavan will also do his Jouchaku Process in 8 years. Kenji Ohba used this Jouchaku action before when he guested on Hurricanger as Sky Ninja Shurikenger.

Recently Warner Brothers Japan uploaded a 40-sec teaser for the upcoming movie Rurouni Kenshin manga on Yahoo! Japan. The teaser showcases characters shown for the first time despite the names released from PR write-ups and web announcements.

Director Keishi Otomo is said to be directing the film starring Den-O's lead actor, Takeru Satoh as Kenshin Battousai/Kenshin Himura. Other actors who will be on the film are Emi Takei as Kaoru Kamiya, Yuu Aoi as Megumi Takani, Munetaka Aoki. as Sanosuke Sagara, and Taketo Tanaka plays Yahiko Myōjin. Kouji Kikkawa as Jine Udō, Yosuke Eguchi as Kenshin's arch enemy Hajime Saitō, and Teruyuki Kagawa as Kanryū Takeda round. Rurouni Kenshin will open in Japan on August 25, 2012.

Toy Review: SH Figuarts Kamen Rider Gaoh

As part of my week haul-Mandarake style, herewith is the review of the S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Gaoh from the Den-O movie I'm Born. I was late in the whole SHF collecting so exclusive and beautifully crafted Gaoh took awhile before it reached the shelves of Firestarter. As one of the first exclusives to come out the said SHF line, Gaoh is fascinating yet simple. That's why late bloomers such as moi are trying hard to find a reasonably priced Gaoh.

I hate the fact that SHF Gaoh started the trend of destroying wallets worldwide because he is the first SHF exclusive. Bandai Collectors Shop (Tamashii Web Shouten) to be exact. And since his articulation/structure was of earlier SHF releases, Gaoh proceeds with Souchaku Henshin engineering but of course updated to SHF style. It shows on the hip joints wherein they are rounded. In my opinion, this works better as it streamlines the mechanics and hides the joints better. An improved version comparing it to today's SHFs is Kamen Rider Ryuki.

Gokaiger Episode 43 is entitled: "Becoming the Legendary Hero" - Densetsu no Yūsha ni (伝説の勇者に). Still centering on Doc Don Dogier. After Marvelous was captured by Damaras and Basco, our Captain is faced to be executed publicly on Earth. Back on the GokaiGalleon, Doc is thinking what else he can do to save his comrades and the Captain. Will Hakase remember who he is?

Gokaiger's Christmas episode is entitled: "A Lovely Christmas Eve" - Suteki na Seiya (素敵な聖夜). This will be the team's first Christmas and Gai will be teaching them what it means. Kenji Ohba will return in this episode but this time as Battle Kenya fitting to build his role in the upcoming movie Gokaigers Vs Gavan movie.

Gai gets Luka interested in Christmas just as Dyrandoh brings his fellow Imperial Guard Bibaboo to Earth so that he can turn those they attack into dolls. The team meets siblings Sayo and Seiji to teach Luka more about the occasion.

Kamen Rider Cyclone Joker Gold Extreme actually debuted in Gaia Memories of Fate than OOO Movie War Core. The box print is not incorrect but this is more highlighted with the OOO Movie. The first time netizens saw this transformation in the movie it seems like everyone wants one. Is it just because of the wings or because W/Double was a phenomenal Kamen Rider Series to date?

For know let's call the formation CJGX. It is a pain to type the whole damn thing. Its body is quite simple since it is a repaint, remold and articulatively (no such word) the same with SHF Cyclone Joker Extreme. The difference of course is the matrix line in the middle that is now in yellow/gold than its original shinny silver. At the back are two slots to peg the wings.

Fourze Christmas Episode is entitled: "Right and Wrong Troubles" - Sei Ja Kat Tō (正・邪・葛・藤). This episode marks the debut of the second rider Kamen Rider Meteor in the said series. Is everyone excited? Gentaro is bothered by a doppelganger Kamen Rider Fourze and during the hunt for the truth, our hero was turned into stone by Perseus Zodiarts. How will Meteor come into picture and what is his true identity and purpose?

Fourze 15: The Christmas Eve Chorus - SUB

Kamen Rider Fourze 15 is entitled: "The Christmas Eve Chorus" - Sei Ya Gas Shō (聖・夜・合・唱). Yuki is forced to rejoin the AGHS glee club to participate in its Christmas pageant. Can KRC defeat the Zodiarts before Christmas?

Former Super Sentai Actors Raise Funds in Charity Event

Tis the season to lend a hand. Red River Entertainment recently organized a two-day charity event in House of Itabashi, Tokyo to raise money for the victims of the tragic earthquake that hit Japan this year. The event was graced by former Super Sentai actors from Bioman to GaoRangers. Donations were raised from door tickets at 4500 Yen. Super Sentai fans will get a kick from the photos below. Thanks to Mr. Keiya Asakura who played Youhei Hama (Blue Turbo) in Kousoku Sentai Turboranger for the link.

Toei Closes Unoffical Kamen Rider Manga

Japan TV production company Toei recently gave notice to Hybrid Insector creators to put a halt in writing and producing the unofficial Kamen Rider dōjinshi manga. With this, the manga's production team announced that the said unofficial Kamen Rider Manga will end. Toei produces numerous live action television and movie series of the well-known Kamen Rider (Masked Rider) franchise.

The manga creators Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi have already produced and released nine chapters prior to Toei's notice. Even with the cancellation, these already produced manga chapters are still made available on Hybrid Insector website, but will not for go on additional chapters.

Gokaiger vs. Gavan Movie Images

More images for the upcoming Gavan vs Gokaiger the movie has surfaced. The said movie is in line with the 35th anniversary of the Super Sentai series and the 30th anniversary of the Metal Hero franchise. Kenji Ohba will be reprising three of his roles in both Super Sentai and Metal Hero series namely Battle Kenya, DenjiBlue and Uchuu Keiji Gavan.Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger vs. Space Sheriff Gavan THE MOVIE premieres this January 21, 2012 at local box offices in Japan.

Movie Wars Megamax hits No. 1

Fourze x OOO Megamax movie hits #1 on the movie charts garnering over taken 378,422,200 yen shown in 301 movie houses in local Japan. It beat Real Steel, the boxing mecha movie starring Hugh Jackman which was tipped to be a hit in Japan. It knocked Kaibutsu-kun from the top, a live action adaptation of a 1960s kids manga series about famous western monsters.

Toy Review: SH Figuarts Kamen Rider Knight & Dark Wing

Overwhelming but epic. These are the two adjectives that come into mind the first time I saw the SH Figuarts Kamen Rider Knight box. It may have the same treatment as Ryuki but this time we have a thicker approach because of the palette of accessories inside.

It feels like a SIC Kamen Rider W figure with two layers of accessories for different Advent/Vent positions. Sugoi. For the first time in my whole toy review vocation, I was overwhelmed and it deemed wise to check out the instructions just in case I missed one or two important attributes of this wonderful SHF pack.

Ultraman scriptwriter Shinichi Ichikawa age 70, passed away on Saturday, December 10 at 4:43 a.m. due to lung cancer. He was 70. Ichikawa is known as a recipient of the Japan Academy Prize for works such as Ultra Seven, Return of Ultraman, Ultraman Ace.

Born from, Isahaya city, Nagasaki Japan, the award winner wrote Ultra Seven (1966-1967), The Return of Ultraman (1971-1972), Ultraman Ace (1972-1973), Kizu Darake no Tenshi (1974-1975) among his works.

Kamen Rider Episode 15 is entitled "The Christmas Eve Chorus" Sei Ya Gas Shō" (聖・夜・合・唱) and here is a preview of that episode. Yuki is invited back to Amanogawa HS Glee Club for an upcoming competition. But Yuki's return is not welcomed by some. Let KRC save the day again on Christmas Day!

Fourze 14: The Poisonous Stinger Attack - Sub

Episode 14 is entitled: "The Poisonous Stinger Attack" Doku Bari Mō Shū (毒・針・猛・襲). Miura avoids school to lead himself out of temptation in using the Zodiart Switch once again. However, Sonada sensei allures Miura to use the Zodiart Switches once again.

While saving Miura, JK, Gentaro and Shun gets poisoned by the Scorpion Zodiarts/Sonada in the process. Using the Medical Module, Kamen Rider Fourze is back in action defeating the Scorpion but the identity of Sonada is still kept secret. In this another Zodiarts appears, welcome Libra Zodiarts!!!

Next Gokaiger episode is entitled: Becoming the Legendary Hero - "Densetsu no Yūsha ni" (伝説の勇者に). A continuation of "The Strongest Man in the Universe" episode centering on Doc Don Dogier. After Marvelous was captured by Damaras and Basco, our Captain is faced to be executed publicly on Earth. Back on the GokaiGalleon, Doc is thinking what else he can do to save his comrades and the Captain. Also, Don Dogier mentions himself as a liar. Is it because he cannot recognize himself as a Legandary Hero as mentioned on the magazine or is it because the magazine was a lie?

Gokaiger's 42nd episode is entitled" “The Strongest Man in the Universe". ("Uchū Saikyō no Otoko - 宇宙最強の男). On a surprising day the team reads a Space Woman's Weekly magazine narrating a Hakase as the strongest planet-eating dragon slayer in the universe. But Don Dogier has no recollection whatsoever of this and they investigate.

Damaras was sent out of prison and demanded to capture the rest the pirates especially Captain Marvelous. "Lord" Damaras teams up with Basco and successfully captured the Captain for public execution leaving only Doc behind. The rest of the team were defeated too...how will Hakase redeem himself?

What Are The OOO Combinations Again?

Even if Kamen Rider OOO series have ended months ago, some of the netizens would like to ask how many possible Core Medal combinations are there from Tatoba to Putotyrano? 119. Eiji will tell you what are these in Net Movie Kamen Rider OOO All Stars: The 21 Leading Actors and Core Medals.

Thanks To Gideon, we have a clip on how the Kangaroo Core Medal will look like and function on the OOO Driver. The said Core Medal used to be utilized in Gambaride machines and given as a freebie in Televikun's August 2011 issue. But on OOO's hyper battle video, we'll see it in live action. The clip is entitled "Quiz, Dance, and Takagarooba!"

There are two forms made when the Kanagaroo medal is used. First is the Takagaruba enabling his torso to materialize a pair of boxing gloves call Gangan Gloves and second is TakaToraGaru when the medal is switched to his legs - grows a tail for a final attack (Scanning Charge). The idea of a boxing kangaroo originates from the animal's defensive behavior either punching or its massive kicking ability. The boxing kangaroo originated in Australia.

Toy Review: SH Figuarts Gokai Green and Gokai Darin

When I was standing in for a radio program back in the day (it didn't reflect on my video reviews but I was decent back then) I've always wanted to say "the boys are out tonight". Didn't go through with that tagline I'm at least I could say it here on this post. Welcome to the review of the 3rd SH Figuarts Gokaiger released this year, Gokai Green - the boys are out tonight.

The first time I saw GokaiGreen's roll call was a WTF moment for me. As a kid of the 80's, I grew up watching epicly executed symmetrical synchronized group poses. There are variations but as new teams come in, it becomes more like presentation of their individuality rather than a group. This "individuality" is seen on Gokaigers. At first it was ok but Hakase's version wasn't a welcomed one. People over the net started even questioning Don Dogier's sexual preference. Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump recently published that a new Naruto Movie will open in Japan on July 30, 2012. Entitled Naruto Shippūden: Blood Prison, is the 6th Naruto Shippuden movie and 3rd Naruto movie in total.

Plot Summary: After being captured for attempting to assassinate the leader of the Hidden Lightning Village (the Raikage) and killing Jonin from the Hidden Mist and Rock Villages, Naruto is imprisoned in Hozūkijo, a criminal containment facility also known as: Blood Prison. The warden of the facility, Mūi, uses the ultimate imprisonment jutsu to steal the power and abilities from it’s prisoners. In the Blood Prison, something is targeting Naruto’s life. The battle to prove his innocence and uncover the truth has begun for Naruto and his friends.
